Quetzal Biotope

“The country’s best odds of seeing a wild quetzal — go early and watch the aguacatillos.”
The cloud forest of the Baja Verapaz corridor devoted to protecting the national bird: trails among giant ferns, bromeliads and mist where — with luck and an early start — you spot the quetzal. The aguacatillo trees across from the biotope are its favorite feeding spot.
