The market is ONLY on Thursdays and Sundays: plan your visit on those days and arrive early (it declines in the afternoon). From Antigua, it takes about 2.5-3 hours by road; many do it as a day trip. Bargain with respect and a smile, carry small cash, and ask for permission before photographing people and ceremonies.
